Primavera, designed by Edward Barber & Jay Osgerby for Mutina, brings the poetic contrast of nature and industry into a refined porcelain slab. Rather than digitally reproducing a pattern, the designers recreated the unpredictability of natural stone by embedding small, randomly scattered ceramic flakes into the surface of the tile. These flakes—pressed directly into five softly shaded bases—produce beautiful, one-of-a-kind imperfections that make every tile unique to sight and touch.
The surface colour is formed using a patented soluble-salt technique, which generates delicate tonal transitions and a calm mineral aesthetic without relying on printed graphics. The combination of this shading and the contrasting flakes evokes the authenticity of natural material, transforming the slab into a tactile, visually expressive surface.
Primavera is produced as an industrial unglazed technical porcelain, making it exceptionally durable, low-maintenance, and suitable for floors and walls in both indoor and outdoor environments, including high-traffic commercial spaces. With three architectural sizes—120×240 cm, 120×120 cm, and 60×60 cm—and a palette of five colours (Bianco, Grigio, Verde, Blu, Nero), the collection adapts seamlessly to residential, hospitality, and contemporary design contexts.
Combining raw material authenticity with advanced production, Primavera offers a surface that feels organic yet architectural—an expressive Italian-made porcelain designed to age gracefully and add depth to every project.
